Director’s statement

Durante una conversación con buenos amigos míos surgió la idea de documentar el legado de Serapio Medrano, artesano al cual aprecian y admiran. Me invitaron a visitarlo con la idea de que yo lo conociera y ver si podríamos embarcarnos en esta aventura. Entonces conocí a Serapio y enseguida nos enamoramos de la persona y de su obra. Así a lo largo de 4 años hemos visitado muchas veces a Serapio, hemos descubierto a un hombre que añora a su padre, risueño y vacilón (como él mismo lo nombra). No solo encontramos en Serapio a una persona que habla de su herencia, sus afectos y sus miedos; también encontramos a un artista que busca transmitir esos mismos valores a las nuevas generaciones.

During a conversation with some friends of mine, the idea of documenting the legacy of Serapio Medrano, a craftsman they appreciate and admire, emerged. They invited me to visit him with the idea that I would get to know him and see if we could embark on this adventure together. So, I met Serapio, and we immediately fell in love with the person and his work. Over the course of four years, we have visited Serapio many times, discovering a man who longs for his father, jovial and playful (as he himself describes it). We not only found in Serapio a person who speaks of his heritage, his affections, and his fears, but also an artist who seeks to transmit those same values to the new generations.
